life update

Having my parents here was fun, but I think they had false memories of this island. I really enjoyed having Matt come. I wish the weather was better so I could've taken them around the island more. The week they left I was super busy with schoolwork and deciding whether to take a gap year or not. I also was registering for classes for the spring.  This is my last full week of classes so I am super overwhelmed with schoolwork. I have decided that I am going to take a gap year and try to get an internship involving my interests in marine life and work on my applications.  Once this week is over there will be a big update with images.

Halloween Week

This week was eventful. I started to feel a little sick that the beginning of the week but it ended up just being a cold. I went to a start-up event on Thursday night and it was fun. On Friday Candace, Reagan, and I went to Dog House for bingo. Then on Saturday, I went out to Chicken and Bowling for a Halloween party. On Sunday I tried to get a COVID test to make sure I didn't have it. On Monday I got a COVID test and it was negative. I rested all Monday and then went out to a Halloween party at Sapphire. We didn't have class on Tuesday because it was a holiday. I also found out that Matt will be coming to the VI with my parents which I was super excited to hear about. They were supposed to come yesterday (Wednesday) but they are coming today. They are currently in Puerto Rico waiting to board their connecting flight to St. Thomas. I am super excited to see them after my lab today.  (I will post pictures in another blog)

This week was hectic but fun.  On Monday there was a rainbow outside after my marketing class. In the nighttime, we went hot tubing. This was a lot of fun and I didn't realize how much I missed a pool and hot tub. I took some really cool pictures that night.  View with brightness up On Tuesday I did a squid dissection. This was a lot of fun and it was cool to see all the different structures.  I went to the gym with Reagan and Candace.  Not much happened on Wednesday, but the sky was pretty.  Thursday was one of my top days on the island. I'm still speechless that I even got to experience a day like this.   I woke up around 8am and got ready for an entire day outdoors. At 9am I was picked up by Michael and we went to Magens Bay to plant corals. Upon arrival we met with Larry and he took us to his home. The views from his house were incredible. We then climbed over many rocks to get down to the water. Once in the water there were creates which held the coral that a group rescued

1st week of October

On the 1st I went to Brewers and swam. We all went out the night and it was fun. On the 2nd Reagan and I went to St. John. We lucked out because a lady paid for our safari back to the ferry dock. We then walked to our friend's boat and we got a sunset sail home. The school week went well for the most part. We went out on Friday because Reagan had a car this weekend. On Saturday we went to Buck Island and snorkeled. We went shopping in the evening and to Agave for dinner. On Sunday I relaxed and did some school work. We then went to the full moon party.

It's Midterm Time!!!

Hi everyone!  Sorry for the long-awaited update.  I have been super busy the last few weeks.  September 7th - 11th:  September 7th: Today was a pretty chill day I went to my classes. My exam for Marketing got moved back due to technical issues with Blackboard and in my Resort class, my presentation went well.  September 8th: Reagan and I decided to go to the beach (Brewers) in the evening to watch the sunset. The water was clear in some areas but in others, it felt like I was walking in black orange juice with extra pulp. The sunset was so beautiful. After taking pictures I noticed this weird hotdog thing in the surf and I kicked it out of the extremely small waves. I soon realized it was moving and definitely not a hotdog. I used Google lens to identify it and it said it was a sea sausage. We went back to our dorm and got changed for dinner. Maddie (she lives on the island and we met through Reagan because they have a class together) took Reagan and me to Tap & Still. We played

Week 4?

This past week was pretty relaxed. I went to my classes, did my assignments, and presented the projects I had. On Saturday I went to Magens Bay and it was really pretty. It is not ideal for snorkeling but it has a nice beach with soft sand. Normally it costs money to enter the beach but UVI was having an event so it was free. After Magens we went to Brewers. I didn't bring my GoPro which I regret not doing because I saw a huge octopus, 2 lobsters, many brittle sea stars, a cushion sea star, many sea cucumbers, and much more. As we were swimming back to the shore there was a huge spotted eagle ray that passed us. This was the closest I have ever been to an eagle ray and the detail I was able to see was amazing.  On Sunday tropical storm Earl was just north of us and was stationary for about 2 days. There were strong winds and lots of rain on Sunday so I pretty much stayed in my dorm room all day until I went to the library and then out to eat for dinner.  It rained most of Monday mo

The last few weeks

Hello everyone!  I have now been on the island for 20 days. The first week here was super fun and I did many touristy things which were good experiences but it made me realize how expensive everything is on the island because it is all imported. I knew things here were going to be expensive but for some reason, I had a little hope that it would be like San Cristobal (Galapagos) where the waterfront is expensive but the rest of the town isn't. We did an island tour with the university which was super cool. We went to Mountain Top, Country, Tutu, Red Hook, and Charlotte Amalie. On my first weekend here I went to Water Island for the day. The name Water Island was very fitting because it rained most of the time we were there but I still had a good time.        I have spent many hours at Brewer's Beach. I really like this beach because it's a short walk from my dorm and not many people go there. I have seen so many sea turtles, stingrays, hermit crabs, and fish. The other day
