Week 4?

This past week was pretty relaxed. I went to my classes, did my assignments, and presented the projects I had. On Saturday I went to Magens Bay and it was really pretty. It is not ideal for snorkeling but it has a nice beach with soft sand. Normally it costs money to enter the beach but UVI was having an event so it was free. After Magens we went to Brewers. I didn't bring my GoPro which I regret not doing because I saw a huge octopus, 2 lobsters, many brittle sea stars, a cushion sea star, many sea cucumbers, and much more. As we were swimming back to the shore there was a huge spotted eagle ray that passed us. This was the closest I have ever been to an eagle ray and the detail I was able to see was amazing.

On Sunday tropical storm Earl was just north of us and was stationary for about 2 days. There were strong winds and lots of rain on Sunday so I pretty much stayed in my dorm room all day until I went to the library and then out to eat for dinner.  It rained most of Monday morning so I slept in and did some housekeeping.  After lunch, Reagan and I decided we weren't going to waste our Labor Day inside so we went to the beach. It was cloudy but the rain held off. I mainly collected sea glass. We tried to snorkel by the dock but the visibility was terrible.  I did see some upside-down jellyfish that were caught in the surf. We played in the waves for a while and then it was time to leave to get dinner.

  1. Hey Jules! Im sorry to hear you had a few rainy days. Sometimes those rainy days are needed to just relax and regroup. Do you ever find sand dollars? Im sure the sea glass is very pretty!
